Alapiel
Dermatological cream. Antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and healing action.
COMPOSITION:
Each 100 g of ALAPIEL cream contains:
Betamethasone (valerate) 0.5 g
Clotrimazole 1 g
Neomycin (sulfate) 0.5 g
Vehicle q.s. to 100 g
PROPERTIES:
Betamethasone:
Synthetic second-generation steroidal anti-inflammatory. Prevents allergy and pruritus, avoids self-mutilation in animals, and neutralizes the cardinal signs of inflammation (pain, heat, redness, swelling, and loss of function). Treatment of choice for burns and sun-induced skin lesions. Mechanism of action: stabilizes cell membranes, blocks lipoxygenase, and inhibits prostaglandin synthesis.
Clotrimazole:
Broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal. Mechanism of action: binds to cytochrome P450 enzymes required for ergosterol synthesis, alters cell wall permeability and intracellular organelle membranes, blocks cellular division capacity, and inhibits fungal cell wall formation. It inhibits enzymatic activity, accumulates abnormal sterols, contributing to cellular fragility and death. Promotes loss of phosphorus compounds, causes decomposition of cellular nucleic acids, and accelerates potassium efflux.
Neomycin:
Broad-spectrum aminoglycoside bactericide. Mechanism of action: enters the bacteria and irreversibly binds to receptors on the 30S ribosomal subunit. This binding interferes with the initiation complex between messenger RNA (mRNA) and the 30S subunit. Due to misinterpretation of bacterial DNA, abnormal and non-functional proteins are formed.
Allantoin:
One of the product excipients that acts as an epithelial regenerating agent by stimulating skin repair. It is a mild keratolytic agent that dissolves the intercellular cement binding corneocytes, removes cellular debris, and facilitates penetration of all active ingredients. It stimulates cellular proliferation, promotes regeneration of damaged epithelium, and accelerates wound healing. It has a moisturizing effect that provides tissue elasticity by increasing water retention in the intercellular matrix and keratin, softens the skin, and prevents cracks and wounds. It also has a soothing and protective effect by forming complexes that neutralize irritating and sensitizing agents.
INDICATIONS:
Dermatitis caused by organisms sensitive to Clotrimazole and Neomycin, such as fungi: Trichophyton verrucosum, T. rubrum, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, and Candida albicans.
Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis, S. aureus, Klebsiella sp., Corynebacterium sp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus sp., Streptococcus sp., and Enterococcus faecalis.
Treatment of choice for recurrent dermatitis caused by dermatophyte infections, yeasts, molds, and other fungi. Also indicated for contact eczema, atopic, seborrheic, and neurogenic dermatitis.
DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION:
Apply a generous layer of cream to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily.
Treatment duration:
8 days for bacterial dermatitis
60 days for fungal infections
With the objective of achieving complete recovery and preventing recurrence of the disease.
PRESENTATION:
Collapsible tube containing 35 grams.
USE IN:
Canines and Cats.
